Set
in the heart of the stunning region of Le Marche with fabulous
views over rolling countryside and the mountains beyond, Casa
Rustica is a delightful, sympathetically renovated farmhouse set
in its own gardens. The sleepy medieval village of San Marcello
is 2km away, where you might like to try one of the local restaurants,
sample the local speciality Verdicchio wine, or simply wander
around the picturesque streets and alleyways to soak up the atmosphere.
Touristy it is not - this is real Italy at her finest.
Just 8km away is the lively, medieval market town of Jesi, with
all the amenities you would expect, from museums to theatres,
piazzas to palaces! Stylish clothes shops, bustling bars and traditional
restaurants will spoil you for choice. In the evenings the streets come alive when all
the locals socialise during their 'passeggiata' or evening stroll.
The centre of Jesi old town is set within
imposing, floodlit ramparts, (which can be accessed via an escalator if you wish)
where the locals enjoy enthusiastic discussions about the latest news, football results
and politics
while drinking espresso coffee or a glass of grappa! Market day in Jesi is every
Wednesday and Saturday, where you can buy excellent quality but reasonably priced local
produce, clothes and shoes.
Ancona is just 30 minutes away from Casa Rustica and is a main port within the Adriatic
(second only to Venice) with regular ferries to Greece and Croatia.
Ancona old town is located near the port area, and is well worth taking some time to explore, with shaded
piazzas and wonderful side streets. Some of the most magnificent monuments
in Central Italy can be found here, such as the cathedral of San
Ciriaco and the Loggia dei Mercanti.
